Home of Economy In the News Again:  Gold Coin Donated to Salvation Army Here.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Wow, someone did a good thing.

The Grand Forks Salvation Army recently got an unexpected boost toward reaching its goal for the annual bell ringing campaign — a gold coin worth as much as $1,450.

Maj. Harold Baugh said an anonymous donor left a South African Krugerrand coin in a kettle at the Home of Economy on Saturday. But the noteworthy contribution went unnoticed until officials added up the kettle’s coins and bills at the end of the day.

The Salvation Army does great things and it’s exciting that this benefactor is one of our shoppers.  I think it’s really cool that they do it in secret, even giving up the tax deduction to do the most good.

Home of Economy Gift Wrapping Letter in the Grand Forks Herald

image

We had a really nice letter written about us published in the Grand Forks Herald:

EAST GRAND FORKS — I went shopping for Christmas gifts, and Home of Economy offers a nice selection of merchandise and decent prices, too. Then when I was at the checkout, the clerk reminded me that the store wraps all gifts — and for free.

It took her two hours to wrap all the gifts I had, and she was so friendly and glad to do it.

The wrapping paper is really nice and no charge. There is a little basket for tips.

I can’t even begin to say how nice it was to load all that up, then go home and have all the gifts already wrapped. It gave me more time to get the cleaning and baking done.

I remember when it was the norm for stores to offer free gift-wrapping.

It’s old fashioned, but so wonderful.

What a nice convenience. I wish more stores offered it.

Here is our Great Gifts Flyer.  We call it great gifts because we focus on stuff that you need.  Of course that’s what Home of Economy does best.

Home of Economy also greatly relies on the winter weather specific merchandise.  We’re from North Dakota so of course we know better than someone in Arkansas.

Note some of the pages had got messed up in the cropping process and I rushed this post so I didn’t catch it.  It’s fixed now.  Sorry about the problem.
