Home of Economy In the News Again:  Gold Coin Donated to Salvation Army Here.

Wow, someone did a good thing.

The Grand Forks Salvation Army recently got an unexpected boost toward reaching its goal for the annual bell ringing campaign — a gold coin worth as much as $1,450.

Maj. Harold Baugh said an anonymous donor left a South African Krugerrand coin in a kettle at the Home of Economy on Saturday. But the noteworthy contribution went unnoticed until officials added up the kettle’s coins and bills at the end of the day.

The Salvation Army does great things and it’s exciting that this benefactor is one of our shoppers.  I think it’s really cool that they do it in secret, even giving up the tax deduction to do the most good.
