Restonic TV Commercial Announces Free Delivery to Flood Victims Including Fargo!

Here’s our latest Restonic Mattress Ad.

Home of Economy Restonic Ad @ Home of Economy Home Furnishings

Restonic makes a great mattress.  It’s also made right here in Grand Forks, just a couple blocks away.

If you buy it from us you know you’re getting a good deal because we have the 200% Guaranteed Lowest Price promise available on it just like the rest of our furniture.  (If you find the same exact model cheaper somewhere else in our trade area we’ll pay you TWICE the difference on purchase, furniture department only.  Some exceptions apply.)

You’ll also see that we are starting a FREE DELIVERY to people victimized by the flood.  That includes Fargo.  Fargo doesn’t have a home furnishings store that is any where near what we have.  What really sets us apart is the Amish Gallery.

We all were affected by the flood of 1997 in one way or another.  This is one thing we thought we could do to help out.

Homecrest Furniture

Home of Economy Homecrest Commercial @ Yahoo! Video

Here’s our Homecrest Furniture ad for the year.

Homecrest is a GREAT line of high quality outdoor furniture based in Wadena Minnesota.  We’ve sold it for 50 years and last year was our best ever with an increase of 40%.

We’re not sure why it took off that much.  We did do a couple things like move it up to the front of the Grand Forks store.  The Grand Forks Herald did feature that red group in the ad in a feature article.  I think that helped as well.

We really wish that Homecrest would put in more bright colors.  That bright red sold terrifically last year.

Homecrest isn’t for everybody.  It is a bigger investment than the stuff that’s imported from China.  On the other hand this stuff is heavy duty and it lasts.  The fabrics are made to be resistant to fading.  On my porch is a set that I got from my grandmother’s house after the flood of 1997.  The frames are probably close to 40 years old.  We had to replace the cushions because they had been wrecked in the flood.

Homecrest, like all of our fine furniture is only displayed in Grand Forks.  However we will ship free to our other stores for pickup.

Valspar House Paints In Grand Forks

image

Home of Economy is going to start carrying the Valspar line of house paints.  In the past we’ve carried Van Sickle paints.  I thought the Van Sickle did a great job at a very good price, but not enough customers knew who they were.

Above you’ll see the new display (not quite finished) in Grand Forks.  We will be rolling these out to the other stores as we go along.  In the meantime the Van Sickle House paints have been marked down to make room for the new Valspar.

The paint market has changed over the years.  Rather than looking for a good paint at a good price the consumer wants color and is willing to pay a bit more for what they get.

Valspar is in other stores, but don’t worry.  We are offering our “Guaranteed Lowest Price” guarantee on the entire line.  If you find it on the shelves of a competitor, OR in their ad, we’ll match that price.  I don’t think we’ll be having any problems with anyone’s regular price because we’ve priced it to sell.  But if someone else has it on sale our customers can buy it where they know they’ll be treated right.

We are still carrying the Van Sickle line of implement and farm paints.  We do a great job with the equipment enamels and barn paints.  We aren’t going to mess with that business.

Our New Amish Furniture Ad

Here’s our latest Amish Furniture Difference Ad.  Not all furniture is made alike.  Now days it’s hard to find an American made product in a furniture store.  At Home of Economy you can buy furniture made with traditional values that stretch back hundreds of years.

If you want furniture you’re going to keep for a while you have to at least check out the Amish Gallery at Home of Economy.

One thing that makes us very different from our competitors is that we stock our product in Grand Forks.  You won’t be buying furniture today and waiting months for a stock item to be delivered.  (And funny how the wait is always longer than what they say.)

That’s for stock product, but our Amish manufacturer is also willing to customize their product to fit you better.  We’ve had many customers that say this would be perfect if it were only six inches narrower.  Well we can and do do that all the time.

That’s just one of the reasons why Home of Economy’s Home Furnishings is different than the rest of the furniture sellers.

Weber Grills Headquarters

Home of Economy has carried Weber Grills for as long as I can remember.  (And I go back forty some years.)  I don’t know that we were doing a great job on it the last couple years.  We weren’t giving it the space in the store or in our advertising that it deserved.

While doing a competitive review we determined that we needed to upgrade our displays in all of the stores.  (We’ve done that it five of the stores with only Jamestown left to go.)

We are absolutely sure that 2009 will be a banner year for Home of Economy and Weber Grills.  We’re already up 70% or so for the year and our advertising campaign hasn’t started.

Watch for this ad to run very soon.

Just In Time For Spring, the Lawn and Garden Flyer is Out

image

You usually don’t hit it this good, but our Lawn and Garden flyer is out.  When you look at the front page you’ll see that we maybe were a bit pessimistic.  We’ve got pumps featured on the front page, which unfortunately are still necessary.  We’re stocked up again.  There’s a lot of ground water out there, so even those that aren’t affected by the flooding might need to upgrade their pumps.

We’ve also got a lot of Science Diet (with a $10 rebate) on the front page as well.  That’s still going great for us.  We want to ride that dog as far as it will take us.

Also on the front page is Carhartt rain gear.  While I hope we don’t need to use that anytime soon, it’s a great product.  This area has really grown for us since we brought it in.  People that work outside in the rain LOVE it.  This is stuff that will last the season versus the products that tear right away.  People also use it a lot when they work indoors in areas that are constantly wet.

On the back page you’ll see Tires, Batteries and Trailers.  Those are three of our biggest lines.  We own the utility trailer market.  I can’t believe how many of those we sell.

Inside you’ll see a great collection of workwear for those ready to start their outside job like farming and construction.

We’ve also got what you need for your yard, your farm and your house and your animal.

With the economy slowing down it’s great to be in a business that offers good value on stuff people need.  Home of Economy has decided to sit out this recession.

We’ve got a place in our main website for the current flyers.  We haven’t got that far yet, so I’ll post the pages here.

New Science Diet Ad

We’ve updated our Science Diet ad starring Felina.  I really like how the ad agency moved the logo around as if she was watching it.  Getting people to pay attention to your advertisements is very difficult.  I think doing something cute like this really helps cut through the clutter.
